Furniture Care Guide
Follow these care guidelines to keep your furniture looking its best and lasting as long as possible. Always check the specific care label or documentation supplied with your product first.
Upholstered Furniture (Sofas, Armchairs, Ottoman)
- Vacuum upholstery weekly using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris.
- Rotate and flip cushions regularly to distribute wear evenly.
- Blot spills immediately — do not rub, as this can push the liquid deeper into the fabric.
- For fabric upholstery, use a clean, damp (not wet) cloth for general cleaning. Avoid soaking the fabric.
- Test any cleaning product on a hidden area first before applying to a visible surface.
- Keep upholstered furniture away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
- Avoid placing heavy objects on armrests or backs, as these are not designed to bear weight.
Timber & Engineered Wood Furniture
- Wipe down with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid excess moisture, which can cause swelling or staining.
- Use coasters, placemats, and trivets to protect surfaces from heat, moisture, and scratches.
- Avoid placing hot items directly on timber surfaces.
- Keep out of direct sunlight where possible — UV exposure can fade and dry out timber over time.
- For solid timber, occasional application of a suitable furniture polish or wax can help maintain the finish.
- Do not use harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive cloths, or bleach on timber surfaces.
- Avoid significant humidity changes, which can cause natural timber to expand or contract.
Leather Furniture
- Dust and wipe leather regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Use a purpose-made leather cleaner and conditioner every 6–12 months to keep leather supple.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth — do not rub.
- Keep leather away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can cause drying, fading, and cracking.
- Avoid sharp objects, pet claws, and belt buckles which can scratch or puncture the surface.
- Do not use household cleaning products, oils, or baby wipes on leather — these can damage the finish.
Loose Cover & Removable Fabric
- Check the care label on removable covers before washing — some are machine-washable on a cold delicate cycle, others are dry-clean only.
- Do not tumble-dry fabric covers unless the label confirms it is safe.
- Refit covers while slightly damp to maintain shape.
- For fixed fabric, professional cleaning may be recommended for deep stains.
Metal Frames & Legs
- Wipe metal components with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately to prevent rust.
- For powder-coated metal, avoid abrasive cleaning pads which can scratch the finish.
- Check fixings and joints periodically and tighten as needed.
- For chrome or brushed steel, use a metal-appropriate cleaner to maintain the finish.
Glass Table Tops
- Clean glass with a glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth or microfibre cloth.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or scourers which can scratch the surface.
- Use coasters and placemats to prevent scratches and thermal shock.
- Inspect rubber bumpers and protective feet periodically and replace if worn.
General Care Tips

- Keep furniture away from heating vents, air conditioning units, and sources of high humidity.
- When moving furniture, lift rather than drag to protect both the furniture and your floors.
